Back-to-back wins for Docomo
Corporate rivals Docomo and IT&E collided in the first men’s division game in the 2011 Saipan Soccer School Futsal League Wednesday night at the TSL Sports Complex with the former prevailing, 6-3.
The victory was second in a row for Docomo, improving its record to 2-1-2 (win-loss-draw) for third place in the eight-team field behind the undefeated Korean Futsal Team (4-0-0) and Wild Bill’s (3-1-0). IT&E dropped to fifth spot with its 2-3-0 card, as the team suffered its third straight defeat.
Peter Loken led Docomo’s second win, as he drilled three goals. He and Trey Dunn scored one goal apiece in the first half, while Ropati Tonuu made one, too for Docomo’s 4-3 advantage.
Kirk Schuler nailed twin goals for IT&E in the first half, while Jin Han Yoon added one to keep the team in the game after 25 minutes of play. However, IT&E’s offense went cold in the second half, while Loken connected on two more goals to lift Docomo to a win.
[B]Mellow Yellow 4, Thundercats 3[/B]Mellow Yellow snapped its four-game losing skid after edging the Thundercats in the second men’s division match, 4-2.
Mellow Yellow dropped its first four matches before making it to the win column on Wednesday night, while the Thundercats are still winless after five games.
The battle of the bottom feeders was in a deadlock at the break, 2-all. Ho Jin Woo tallied both goals for Mellow Yellow, while Lin Zhi Peng duplicated the feat with his own twin goals.
Woo remained on target in the second half, adding two more goals to give Mellow Yellow its first win. Timothy Tawanpiy scored the Thundercats’ lone goal in the second half.

WOMEN’S
Thai Team 1, Red Team 0[/B]
Also barging into the win column was Thai Team, which outclassed Red Team, 1-0.
Catherine Perry logged the lone goal in the match, finding the back of the net in the first half to hand Thai Team its first win in four games.
Red Team is back on a slump, as it absorbed its second straight loss and third overall in five games.
With the win, Thai Team moved out of the cellar, climbing from eighth to seventh place. Red Team sits at fifth.

Shirley’s A 8, IT&E Blossom 0[/B]
Shirley’s A took the solo lead in the women’s division after shutting out IT&E Blossom, 8-0.
Shirley’s A stretched its unbeaten record to five, one win ahead of sister team Shirley’s B.
Melody Johnson and Jeraldine Castillo posted two goals apiece in the first half and Shirley’s A had the game in the bag at this point, as Charlene Lizardo also scored for a big 5-0 lead. Marilou Gariguez, Dianne Pablo, and Lizardo added one goal apiece in the second half to complete the blowout win.
IT&E Blossom is the lone squad in the women’s division that has yet to break into the win column.
