Walking inside the N@chanchi Café and Restaurant in Garapan is already an experience in itself, its interior modestly accented by wooden furniture that contrast with the white walls, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere.

N@chanchi’s manager, Sungnam Lee, revealed that the restaurant name came from a combination of Japanese terms: natsu, which means summer, chan for channel, and chi, which means house.

The newly opened establishment offers a polished take on the usual fares—burgers and pasta.

N@chanchi Café and Restaurant has an array of burgers that are made with fresh, homemade patties and locally made hamburger buns. Try the N@chan burger for only $7.50 or the Teriyaki Oyako Burger for $9. Lee recommends their own version of Chamorro Burger, which has become popular among tourist diners and is just $9.

For pasta dishes, N@chanchi has the Bolognese or meat sauce spaghetti for only $7.50 and the Spinach and Bacon Pasta Peperoncino for $9.50. Or you can try their Carbonara, which Lee said is their bestseller at $8.50 per serving.

For budget-conscious patrons, N@chanchi’s Special Lunch Menu includes a dish selection, rice, soup, and salad for only $8.50.

N@chanchi Café and Restaurant also serves iced and hot coffee, cappuccino, smoothies, Japanese fried chicken, as well as Peaches Jubilee and Banana Split for dessert.

N@chanchi has a fairly limited menu for now but Lee disclosed that customers can look forward to an expanded menu, with plans to introduce a noodle menu and happy hour on alcoholic drinks and beverages in the future.

According to Lee, the newly opened café and restaurant is part of a project by the owner, Kojiro Tanaka, to create not just a café and restaurant but also a magazine designed for tourists.

“We first introduced N@chan magazine back in January,” Lee said about the monthly magazine. “Nachan was created mainly for tourists to give them a guide during their visit to the island.”

N@chan magazine, Lee said, contains valuable information on hotels, golf courses, rent-a-car, massage and spa, shopping stores, restaurants, and marine sports, among others.
