Clarification

This is a comment on your article in the Aug. 3, 2011, Saipan Tribune: “Audit finds multiple violations at CUC.”

You must have had a slow news day because the reporter is referring to the annual audit report by public auditors that was completed in March 2011. Saipan Tribune already reported on this favorably in May for good reason. The 2010 audit was the first CUC audit that was unqualified (“clean”) and on time.

Normally the savvy reviewer is supposed to report on the reconciliation of the findings that includes the response by the audited entity. That would be considered fair reporting.

To that end, please refer to page 59: Summary of Auditor’s Results: e.g., Material weaknesses identified—Unqualified.

I realize 92 pages is a lot for your reporter to digest and that is why we reported on the summary in May.
