The missing half of the news

This is a reply to a letter from Mr. Jack O. Romolor. I am a retired pastor and master teacher. I spend considerable time reading newspapers, such as the Saipan Tribune, and watching various news channels on TV. I have discovered that The New York Times and CNN give out about 45 percent of the news. All of it is changed to make Republicans look bad. An example—you wrote that President Bush and the Republicans didn’t care how they spent the American budget and drove the country into a ditch. You should remember that 9-11 totally disrupted American business because the twin towers housed America’s business center. Also, President Bush had to fight two wars and create the vast homeland security all across America.

With the above in mind, let me share with you a poll of spending that came out this week as our government struggles to stop our government from defaulting. This is the spending by presidents:
* Bill Clinton: $550,000 per day
* George Bush: $1.2 trillion per day
* Barack Obama: $4.5 trillion per day

A note from an economist: Obama’s debt is more than all of the presidents from George Washington to George Bush.

How does Obama spend so much money? He recently gave the IMF $150 million for Greece to bail them out again just about a year after the last bailout. Another example is Brazil. I spent the month of February in Brazil doing missionary work. The new president in Brazil is a communist. After taking office she more then doubled her salary and doubled the salary of the ruling cabinet. Then they cut minimum wage for the working public. The new president called this a great presidential victory. The next morning the street was full of police cars in Recife where I was staying. Across the street, a young, 22-year-old man jumped from the 12th story balcony to his death on the concrete below. His mother told police he was unable to earn enough money to live. Mr. Obama on a recent visit gave the president of Brazil $45 million to drill oil offshore—even though Brazil is energy independent and selling oil to China.

May I suggest that you watch Fox News; they give all of the news and they give both sides of each argument! If you cannot get Fox News on TV, go online at foxnews.com and you will be amazed because you will get more then double the news you get on CNN. The only thing you will miss are those little side stories CNN runs when they don’t want to show you all of the news.
