Some 40 students from TongMyong University in Busan, Korea were on island for a short visit where they received a month-long session about the English language at Northern Marianas College.

During their stay, the visiting group also conducted a three-day beach cleanup as a show of their appreciation to the “serene beauty of the island” and their commitment to maintain its cleanliness.

From July 25 to 27, the foreign students picked up trash at Oleai Beach in San Jose, Susupe Regional Beach Park, and at the Garapan Fishing Base area.

The TongMyong University students were assisted by Sen Kim of Riviera Hotel, which coordinated the travel of the group.

Besides the English language camp, the students were also treated to various activities like trekking, swimming, site-seeing, and listened to island music. Last weekend, Kim said the group went to Managaha Island.

He said the students have expressed their desire to come back and make a regular visit to the island where they plan to organize a scuba diving team from Korea.

Saipan Tribune learned that besides the group, 32 freshmen students from a women’s high school in Seoul, Korea joined the TongMyong University in their activities last week.
