Frustrated over the alleged laziness of her common-law husband, a woman tried to hit him with a stick but instead was allegedly beaten and stabbed with a knife at their residence in Kannat Tabla Wednesday night.

The woman sustained a cut on her right wrist. Medics treated her but she refused to be brought to the hospital, police said.

Jeffrey Taimanao Deleon Guerrero, 36, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. His bail was initially set at $6,250 cash. He was set to appear in the Superior Court yesterday afternoon.

Detective Peter A. Aldan stated in his report that, according to the victim, she was frustrated because all Deleon Guerrero does is sleep and eat.

On Wednesday night, the wife tried to wake Deleon Guerrero up, either to help her with household chores or attend to their children. She tried to hit him with a stick but missed. He got up, chased her, and allegedly punched her in the head and slapped her several times.

Deleon Guerrero then allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed her but she blocked the weapon, resulting in the wound on her right wrist. The victim ran to Terry Store where she called police.

When a responding police officer asked Deleon Guerrero what happened, the suspect reportedly told the officer that she’s lucky that he did not kill her.
