The scheduled meeting of the Society for Human Resource Management CNMI Chapter on Thursday, July 28, has been cancelled, according to a notice issued by Chapter president Polly DLG. Masga. She did not cite a reason for the cancellation. The meeting was supposed to be the group’s July general membership meeting and was to feature the topic “Setting Up a Low Cost Retirement or College Savings Plan.” [B][I](PR)[/I]
Wet weekend for MIFICPA[/B]
The Marianas Institute of CPAs and Accountants, or MIFICPA, will hold an event on Aug. 13 – 14, 2011, called the “Managaha Summer Shower.” It will be an overnight outing of fun, laughter, and games to once again celebrate accountants’ togetherness and as one solid and professional group. MIFICPA will provide dinner but participants are advised to bring their own camping gear.

Veterans outreach this week[/B]
Tina San Agustin, the Department of Veterans Affairs’ legal administrative specialist from Guam and the Northern Marian Islands, will be on Saipan and Tinian from July 27 to 29 for a veterans outreach on veterans’ federal benefits. She will also be entertaining veterans’ questions and assisting with claims. Agustin’s schedule is a follows:
* July 27, 8:30am-4:30pm on Tinian at the Tinian Municipal Council’s office

Hopwood grade 6 and 7 open registration[/B]
The open registration for seventh and eighth grade levels of Admiral Herbert G. Hopwood Jr. High School is ongoing until July 29. Parents and guardians of enrolling students should provide the school with all the necessary documents to avoid any problem in the processing of their child’s enrollment. Air Force, Navy Training on FDM, Warning Area-517

SANTA RITA, Guam—The U.S. Air Force is conducting training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla until July 29, from 6:30am to 8:45pm.
The U.S. Navy is conducting training at Warning Area 517 (W-517) today, July 27, from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
The public–especially fisherman, commercial pilots and marine tour operators–is advised to stay clear from the area during the times and dates indicated.
The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla training area will be on a 10-nautical mile radius on all quadrants.
W-517 is an irregular shaped polygon comprising of 14,000 nautical square miles of airspace that begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. This will affect fishing in the vicinity of Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank. [B][I](PR)[/I][/B]
