The Mariana Islands Nature Alliance and Pacific Marine Resources Institute offices will be feeling a little bit cooler this summer, thanks to a Team Advance Group donation of two energy-efficient air conditioning units for the environmental non-profit organizations.

MINA’s executive director, Sam Sablan, had this to say about Team Advance Group’s generous donation: “I’m extremely thankful for their donation and I believe this donation is a clear indication of their commitment toward helping small organizations such as MINA and PMRI grow, as well as learning and educating others about CNMI’s environment.”

Advance Group general manager Butch Y. Sigua said that since they set up shop in 2005, they “believed in [putting] the environment first,” and have upheld that idea in all of the products they sell. This includes residential pesticides that are biodegradable and safe for use around humans and pets, as well as air conditioning units that use R-410A Freon gas systems that do not significantly impact the ozone layer.

“CUC’s power [rate] increase has become a growing burden, forcing MINA to reduce their office hours so that we can maintain our goals of using low power consumption while conducting business,” Sablan said.

Team Advance Group, located on Beach Road in the Naked Fish Building in Garapan, began as a pest control firm in 2005. However, a chance hire of an employee with a background in A/C unit repair led to the development of their air conditioning branch. Team Advance Group is fully staffed with certified technicians and an in-house certified HVAC engineer capable of working on their Federal, Goodman, and Heil air conditioning systems.
