Ocampo lifts GPPC to win

Alex Ocampo scored 28 points to power GPPC to a 73-66 victory over Lyn’s BBQ during the curtain-raiser in the 2011 Blue Haus Invitational Basketball League Thursday night at the Gualo Rai Basketball Court.

GPPC led from start to finish and pulled away in the third quarter before Lyn’s BBQ made a comeback in the fourth canto and still fell short.

Ocampo fired 10 early points for GPPC’s 17-14 lead in the opening canto and after being held to only two field goals in the second period, the shooting forward scored eight more markers in the third. After three quarters, GPPC’s advantaged ballooned to 16, 56-40, as Ocampo drew help from Boboy Sumpang, who made eight of his 12 points in that quarter.

Randy Mungcal also helped GPPC’s cause, contributing 20 markers in the win.

[B]Pacific Postal 48, Aldrin 45[/B]

In the other game on Thursday night, Pacific Postal slipped past Aldin, 48-45.

Pacific Postal got double figures from three players to win the low-scoring game. Angel Bautista and Joboy Angeles had 11 apiece, while Jesse Aque chipped in 10.

Donnel Isip paced Aldrin with 12 markers, while Nelson Manangan added 10.

[B]MBI 67, Wings Travel 66[/B]

In the first game on Wednesday night, Micronesian Brokers, Inc. escaped with a 67-66 triumph over Wings Travel.

MBI won the game from the foul line, making four free throws in the homestretch, three of them coming from Noel David.

David finished with a team-high 20 points, while Nate Mateo led all-scorers, tallying 23 for Wings Travel

[B]Joeten Superstores 70, Life Force 58[/B]

In the second game, Joeten Superstores held Life Force to only four field goals in the first quarter for a 12-point win, 70-58.

With only Jessie Ordonez scoring more than one field goal for Life Force in the opening canto, Joeten Superstores surged ahead, 24-9,

Joeten Superstores never looked back from thereon. Rodney Sacramento top-scored for the winning team with his 18 points.
