The Public School System’s only nutritionist, Hee Jae Lee, will officially leave her post today to continue her studies abroad.

Dale Roberts, PSS food and nutrition program manager, said he will take over Lee’s position until it is filled.

He said vacancy announcements are already out and will be closed in two weeks, in time for the start of the new school year in September.

Lee announced her last day at PSS in an email message to colleagues and friends.

She said she and her husband will be relocating to Boston. Her husband will continue to work as a chiropractor in Boston while Lee will be pursuing a new career in the field of public health while completing her graduate degree at Tufts University.

She described the four years she has served the school system as an amazing journey.

“The past four years with PSS has been an amazing journey for me, and I shall never forget the challenges and the rewards I have experienced. Even though I will dearly miss my home and my wonderful job at PSS, I am looking forward to starting a new phase of my career,” she said in her email, thanking her colleagues and friends for their dedication and efforts toward improving the health of students and the community. “I could have never done anything without your support,” she added.

Lee said she will keep communication open if they want to seek professional assistance in the future.

Dale Roberts hopes that PSS could soon identify a new nutritionist so the nutrition programs of PSS won’t be affected. Roberts wishes Lee good luck in the new chapter of her life.
