3 pct. increase in June vehicle sales

Automotive dealers sold one vehicle more in June compared to the same month last year, or from 34 to 35.

The Commonwealth Auto Dealers Association, in its latest sales report released yesterday, said they posted a 3-percent increase in sales in June.

Although a slight increase of one unit, the year-to-date sales is still a 25-percent decrease or from 301 in the first half of 2010 to only 233 units sold in the first six months of 2011.

Of the 35 new vehicles sold in June, 14 were from Joeten Motors, 13 from Triple “J” Motors, and eight from Microl Corp.

Cars again sold the most in June, with 12 units, followed by sport utility vehicles with 11. CADA also sold eight trucks and four vans.

The most saleable cars in June were Kia Soul, Mazda2 and Mazda3 with three units each. One unit each of Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Genesis Cp and Nissan Altima were also sold.

Among SUVs, Hyundai Santa Fe topped the sales chart with three units sold followed by Kia Sportage with two. CADA also sold one unit each of Mazda CX7, Mazda CX9, Nissan Pathfinder, Nissan Rogue, Toyota 4Runner, and Toyota Highlander.

Among the trucks sold were four units of Ford Ranger, three Toyota Tacoma, and one Nissan Frontier.

The only vans sold were three Toyota Sienna, and one Kia Sedona.
