Visiting Korean performers take part in cultural festival
The Korean community on Saipan celebrated this year’s cultural festival with a free concert from guest performers at the Korean Presbyterian Church Sunday night.
The Daejeon Rainbow Little Singers, the four-member Vincero Voice Ensemble, and at least seven dancers from the SangMyung University Dance Company graced the concert organized by P,Art Music Academy with dazzling performances.
Since 1994, the P,Art Music Academy of Saipan has been inviting dance companies and other performing artists from Korea to celebrate Korean culture and to join in the Liberation Day festivities.
Daejeon Rainbow Little Singers, meanwhile, is composed of young singers age 10 to 13 years accompanied by conductor Ko Seok Woo.
The Korean visitors capped its performance on island with a presentation Monday night at the Liberation Day grounds at Garapan Fishing Base.
“Our Liberation festivities and parade have been extra exciting and memorable because of all the engaging performances by previous Korean groups brought in through P, Art Music Academy,” said Mayor Donald Flores. “The various traditional and modern dances and music surely brings a taste of Korean culture to our island.”
The guest performers, who arrived on Saipan last July 2, are scheduled to head home today.
