MHS Class of 1991 to hold three-day reunion
The Marianas High School Class of 1991 will have a three-day celebration for its 20th reunion.
On June 24, members of the Class of 1991 will have a get-together at the Pacific Islands Club Saipan from 6pm to 10pm. Attire is Hawaiian print or casual. A portrait session (fee by package if you want) will be made available. Fee for the event at PIC is $22.
On June 25, the Class of 1991 will hold a Mass to pay respects to their deceased classmates. The Mass starts 6pm at the Kristo Rai Church.
On June 26, there will be a potluck party at the Minatchom Atdao Pavillion from 9am to 6pm. Participants are requested to wear their just-purchased MHS Class of 1991 T-shirts. Attendees are also requested to bring two cases of drink, preferably water. If you’re bringing alcohol, it would be a good idea to also bring a cooler. Those attending are also advised to bring food to share in the potluck party. (PR)
[B]Tinian Harbor red-flagged[/B]The Division of Environment Quality has red-flagged the Tinian Harbor and is advising the public not to fish or swim within 300 feet of this location for the next 48 hours or until otherwise notified. DEQ said that samples collected from this location had excessive concentrations of fecal indicator bacteria (enterococci) that exceeded the CNMI Marine Water Quality Standards. These bacteria can indicate the presence of human and animal waste in the water. Water samples were taken from 10 locations on Tinian this week. For more information, contact DEQ at 664-8500. (DEQ)
[B]Learn traditional rope-making on Saturday[/B]The Inetnon Amot yan Kutturan Natibu/Mwiischil Safey me Kkoor Aramasal Faluw is offering free classes to all Chamorros and Carolinians on traditional rope-making using hibiscus and coconut fibers on Saturday, June 25, 2011. This Saturday is also the last day for banana print and mwar making.
Classes start at 9am and end around noontime. Classes are offered at the Saipan Chamorro-Carolinian Village Cultural Centers Headquarters at 1213 Capitol Hill Road, which is across from the CNMI Workforce Investment Agency and next to the CNMI Board of Parole Office. The classes are offered by the Association of Native Medicine and Culture, in partnership with the Indigenous Affairs Office, and funded in part by the Administration for Native Americans. [B]Kagman High School summer school applicants[/B]To all juniors and seniors from Kagman High School who completed summer school applications for this summer session at Saipan Southern High School, busing will begin pickup at your respective bus stops for this week. After this week, students will be picked up at the school campus closest to your home. You must attend classes regularly to gain the credit needed for graduation. You will not graduate on time unless you comply! If you are a junior who needs credit recovery, apply for summer school at the main office before Monday, June 27. [B]Enrollment info for Kagman High[/B]To all returning Kagman High School students, parents and guardians: All students must register anew for school year 2011-2012, even if you went to KHS this last school year. The school is updating its records and everyone must re-register or they will not receive a class schedule for the school year. Register before Aug. 19 for optimum scheduling. Registration forms can be picked up from the registrar or in the main office.
Documents needed for registration are: official transcript (only if transferring from another school); registration form with E-Rate Survey; copy of health certificate clearance; copy of birth certificate; copy of medical insurance provider; map to residence; and guardianship or power of attorney (if legal guardian).

[B]Air Force training on Farallon de Medinilla [/B]The U.S. Air Force will conduct training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla on June 24, from 11am to 7:30pm. The public, especially fisherman, commercial pilots and marine tour operators, are advised to stay clear from the area during the dates and times indicated. The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla training area will be on a 10 nautical mile radius on all quadrants. (USN)
