Rotary Club’s Las Vegas Night raises over $37,000
The gross proceeds for the successful Las Vegas Night event organized by the Rotary Club of Saipan reached $37,130.
The annual fundraiser was held on June 18 at the Royal Taga Hall of the Saipan World Resort.
Rotary treasurer Amie Javier said during the group’s meeting yesterday that expenses incurred for the event are estimated at $18,654, including the $15,500 in cash prizes for the raffle draw.
Based on these figures, Javier said the net income from the event amounts to $16,486.
“The board has decided to take about 20 percent of the net proceeds and put it into our savings account for the Kagman playground project,” disclosed Rotary president Glen Perez.
He said it will take them several years to come up with the funds for the project, the same way they did with the American Memorial Park playground.
According to Perez, Las Vegas Night attracted the participation of 33 out of 43 Rotarians. There were also numerous guests who provided assistance at the Black Jack, Bingo, and Texas Hold’em tables.
Some Rotarians noted, however, that they were short of volunteers who should have taken care of providing drinks for Rotarians who were manning the various gaming tables.
“We could take all our notes and pass it on to next year’s director in charge of the event,” said Perez.
Perez added that they will look into moving the Las Vegas Night event to March “when people are not off-island.”
