The CNMI Area Health Education Center (AHEC), through the Northern Marianas College Community Development Institute (CDI), is sponsoring a preparatory class for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for Registered Nurses.

To become a licensed registered nurse, candidates in the CNMI and in the U.S. must first pass the NCLEX. To qualify to register for this course, participants must have at least an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.

CNMI AHEC will subsidize this review course for those individuals who are CNMI Legal Residents (i.e. United States citizens, U.S. Green Card holders, and I.R.s who are dependents of or married to U.S. citizens). Due to limited funding, subsidy is based on first-come-first-serve basis.

This NCLEX preparatory course will run from June 27 to Aug. 22, 2011 at the NMC As Terlaje campus (room will be announced later). The schedule for the course is 5:30pm to 8pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 9am to 11am on Saturdays for a total of 60 hours. The fee for this course is $150.

CDI courses are designed to improve individual knowledge and skills. If requested, certificates of completion may be awarded to each registered participant who completes all course requirements. CDI also provides customized trainings and courses upon request from interested individuals.

To register for this course, applicants must register by Friday, June 24, 2011, and submit a copy of their highest nursing degree and a valid I.D. (U.S. passport, driver’s license, or birth certificate for verification upon registration). Full payment of the course fee is required before or upon registration and for admission. No refunds will be allowed after the first day classes are offered.

In addition, NMC courses are required to have a minimum number of individuals enrolled in order to run. NMC reserves the right to cancel or reschedule such a course if this enrollment requirement is not met.

For more information or to register for this course, visit the NMC Community Development Institute office at the NMC As Terlaje campus in Building P. Those interested may also call CDI at 234-5498 ext. 1010, 1014, 1019 or 1030, or email Orrin Pharmin at orrinp@nmcnet.edu. (NMC)
