The inaugural Salvation Army Food Bank 5K Fun Run will hit the road on June 25.

Registration is ongoing and no entrance fee is required to join the race. Interested participants must only bring one non-perishable food item to compete.

“Join the Salvation Army Food Bank 5K and help feed our local community. The Saipan branch of the Salvation Army recently started a soup kitchen to provide hot meals to individuals and families in need and this is your chance to lend a hand. Feel free to bring as many non-perishable food items with you to the Salvation Army as we’ll be happy to accept anything you have to offer,” race organizer Brad Ruszala said in a press release.

The race will begin at the Salvation Army across the Hopwood Junior High School and runners will proceed south past the Pacific Islands Club and head back to the starting line. Check-in time is at 7am, while kick-off is at 8am.

“We’ll have raffle prizes available from our sponsors and all finishers will receive official race certificates. Runners and walkers of all skill levels are welcome to join,” Ruszala said.
