Following a successful Pistang Pinoy celebration, the United Filipino Organization will now start planning for its participation in the upcoming Liberation Day festivities.

The Liberation Day celebration kicked off last night with the opening of the festival grounds at the Garapan Fishing Base. It will be highlighted by the Fourth of July parade that involves various ethnicities and organizations.

UFO president Bong Malasarte said yesterday that group officers will now have regular meetings to decide on their involvement in the annual celebration. When asked if UFO will participate in the traditional Fourth of July parade, Malasarte replied, “We still have to think it over and decide as a group.”

According to Malasarte, the economic challenge facing the Commonwealth would be one factor that will be considered in deciding whether or not to participate in the parade.

“To be part of the parade would mean expenses for the organization,” he told Saipan Tribune. “It was already challenging to get sponsors for the Pistang Pinoy. We’ll decide in our meeting.”
