Revilla is NMC new staff senate president
Northern Marianas College support staffers have selected new officers who will give voice to their concerns to the management and Board of Regents.
Dawn Chrystal Revilla, the institution’s budget officer, was elected as the group’s new president, replacing Clarice Arriola.
Revilla will now serve as an honorary non-voting member of the Board of Regents.
Also elected with Revilla were Community Development Institute’s Floyd Masga, who was selected vice president, and Christina Cruz, from the finance office, as secretary and treasurer.
Revilla vowed yesterday to maintain a healthy professional relationship with NMC’s faculty senate, administration, and board.
“The support staff are an integral part of ensuring continued and smooth operations at the college; and we continue to emphasize and recognize the importance of our collective roles,” she told Saipan Tribune, adding that it is the support staff’s services that ensure that classes can run and that students and employees are adequately supported.
Interim NMC president Lorraine T. Cabrera congratulated the new officers.
“The staff senate and other governance bodies play an integral role at the college. I offer my congratulations to the new senators and look forward to working with them as we continue to advance the mission of the college,” she said.
The outgoing staff senators include Clarice Arriola, Randall Nelson, Kathy Palacios, Becky Sablan, Leonard Morales, Karla Mareham, James Santos, and Sue Palacios.
