Drunk domestic violence suspect drops knife after cop warns him of pepper mace
An alleged drunk man who beat up his wife dropped his knife when a police officer threatened to spray him with pepper mace at a residence in Koblerville on Thursday night.
John West Teregeyo, 39, was secured by two police officers after he dropped the knife.
Teregeyo was taken to the Superior Court on Monday afternoon for bail hearing on charges of assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan stated in her report that on Thursday at 10:46pm, two police officers responded to Koblerville after receiving a call about a domestic violence.
Pangelinan said when the officers arrived at the scene, a woman who was shaking ran to the patrol vehicle and begged to the officers to take away the drunken Teregeyo.
As the officers approached Teregeyo, the defendant refused to leave the premises.
While one officer was interviewing the wife, the second officer noticed Teregeyo holding a knife.
The first officer pulled his pepper mace and threatened he would spray it at him if he would not drop the knife.
Teregeyo dropped the weapon, prompting the officers to secure him.
The victim said while she was at her sister’s house in San Vicente, Teregeyo came drunk, started bothering her and threatened to beat her up.
The victim took their children and along with her sister proceeded to the latter’s house in Koblerville.
Teregeyo followed in Koblerville where he slapped his wife on the face and threatened to beat her up. The sister called the police.
