Scores of music fans grooved and sang on a trip down to memory lane Saturday night when Filipino singer Geneva Cruz and The Retrospect band delivered crowd-pleasing performances at the packed out Hibiscus Hall of Fiesta Resort & Spa in Garapan.

The Guam-based band, comprised of J. Martin Castro, Goldie Castro, and Ogie Ramos, got the audience to their feet and sing along with their encore that included timeless Pinoy disco fever hits and unforgettable OPM love songs.

The uproarious trio also delivered side-splitting remarks involving the spectators themselves, who were all willing partakers in a night of music and laughter.

Cruz, meanwhile, was clad in a sultry sequined mesh bra top inspired by Beyonce and took center stage as she belted classic and contemporary dance hits on top of her original and popular ballads.

The sultry pop singer also mingled among the audience, allowing them to take photos of her and with her to their delight.

Organized by the Tan Siu Lin Foundation, the one-night concert was sponsored by Docomo Pacific, Fly Guam, TakeCare, Aon Insurance, Chong’s Corporation, Horizon Lines, Salon de Manila, National Office Supply, Bridge Capital, Magic 100Fm, and Taro Sue Corp.

Jerry Tan, president of Tan Holdings, said the concert was held especially for the Filipino community on Saipan who join the Filipinos around the world in celebrating Philippine Independence Day on June 12.

“I thought that bringing artists from the Philippines to Saipan will bring some smiles to Filipinos on island. The show was very entertaining and I’m glad to see it have a great turnout,” he told Saipan Tribune.

Tan said it was the first time that the foundation brought artists for the occasion. “If that’s what the community wants, we would be happy to look at future occasions and bring other Filipino artists to the island,” he added.
