Man allegedly burglarizes restaurant, steals freezer, other items
Police arrested on Sunday in As Matuis a man who allegedly burglarized a restaurant in Tanapag and stole a freezer and other items.
Sylvestry M. Amirez, 26, who was arrested for burglary and theft, was taken to the Superior Court yesterday afternoon for a bail hearing.
A $20,000 cash bail was initially imposed for Amirez’s temporary liberty.
Detective Patrick P. Sablan stated in his report that on May 24, 2011 at 6:11pm, a police officer responded to a burglary and theft incident that happened at the Wrath By the Sea Restaurant in Tanapag.
Sablan said that on Friday morning, he met a man at his residence in Tanapag and escorted him to the Department of Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Bureau for an interview regarding the burglary case.
Sablan said the man admitted that on May 24 at 9pm, Amirez came to his residence with a pickup truck and asked for his assistance.
Amirez allegedly asked the person to help him carry a freezer at the Wrath By the Sea Restaurant.
The detective said both the person and Amirez proceeded to the restaurant and transported a freezer, an ice box, and three steel stove burners into the truck.
The two then dropped the items to Amirez’s residence in As Matuis.
The report did not indicate that police considered Amirez’s companion as a suspect too.
