Reyes, San Nicolas top graduates of Chacha Oceanview Jr. High
Thirteen-year-olds Paulo Reyes and Clea San Nicolas were named most outstanding students of Chacha Oceanview Junior High School during yesterday’s promotional ceremony for eighth graders on campus.
Reyes emerged this year’s top awardee receiving the prestigious Board of Education award from chair Marylou Ada and member Herman T. Guerrero.
Paulo, the son of Malou and Pete Reyes, was also recipient of the numerous special recognitions including the gold presidential award for academic excellence, A honor roll, best in language arts, best in social studies, and best in Algebra.
Paulo, who wants to become a pilot someday, vowed to continue to strive for excellence to achieve this goal.
San Nicolas, meanwhile, emerged the class second top student after receiving the Commissioner of Education award from Education Commissioner Dr. Rita A. Sablan.
She is the daughter of Aileen and John San Nicolas and was also recipient of other special recognitions.
She told Saipan Tribune that she will continue her studies at Kagman High School but is still unsure of what career to take after graduation.
Chacha Oceanview principal Vince Dela Cruz, along with education officials and guests, promoted 140 eighth graders to high school during yesterday’s ceremonies. He also bestowed the principal’s leadership award to Emmalou Cabrera.
The event was keynoted by Staff Sergeant Clint R.T. Castro, the U.S. Army recruiting station commander in the CNMI. Also in attendance were U.S. Congressman Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan, Rep. Frederick Deleon Guerrero, members of the PSS leadership team, education board members, and hundreds of friends and families of the graduates.
