NMI’s Williams accepted to nat’l scholars society
A 19-year-old student from Saipan was accepted to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars for achieving academic excellence in his studies.
Heartim Williams, a freshman dentistry student at Creighton University, is the only son of Tim and Rumi Williams. He will officially join the Society in an induction convocation this fall semester on the campus of Creighton University.
Stephen E. Loflin, the society chief executive officer and founder, announced Williams’ acceptance to the organization.
According to Heartim’s father Tim, his son is a consistent honor student since his primary grades.
Saipan Tribune learned that Heartim Williams went to Seventh-Day Adventist School and Dandan Elementary School for his primary education. He completed his middle school at Hopwood Junior High where he graduated with the Principal’s Award.
Last school year, Heartim graduated from Marianas High School where he was named among the Top 10 awardees. During his senior year, he was also the school’s battalion commander. Heartim was also involved in numerous sports and community events, in and out of school.
Tim Heartim said this national recognition for his son only reflects all the hard work and sacrifices that Heartim has demonstrated throughout the years. “We’re very surprised with this recognition but we’re also proud of our son. For all his hard work and dedication, he truly deserves this honor,” he said.
Heartim Williams left the island last week to continue his studies at Creighton University, where he also serves as a student senator.
Membership to the society is by invitation-only, based on grade point average and class standing. The society has more than 750,000 lifetime members and 270 chapters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
