Jeff “Joker” Barit was on target to rule the Saipan Electronic Darts Association-Bud Light Friday Night Tournament held last week at the 6JMS Sports Bar in Garapan.
He defeated Edsel Delfin in the finals to claim the $70 pot. Barit regularly plays for Jokers bar in SEDA-organized team tournaments. He also used the competition to warm up for the upcoming Summer/Fall season of the SEDA league, which will open later this month.
It was Barit’s second win over Delfin as he defeated his finals opponent in the third round of the one-day tournament, which followed a double-elimination format. Ray Cepeda, George Medina, and K.J. Villagomez were Barit’s other victims in his undefeated run to the finals.
Delfin, on the other hand, downed Dan Repeki and Warlee Ellama before losing to Barit in their third-round match to be relegated to the losers bracket. He bounced back with wins over Roy Teryama, Lloyd Aldan, and Villagomez to take another shot at Barit. Delfin, however, failed to stop Barit’s march to victory to settle for the $40 runner-up purse. Villagomez came in third for $20.
Burth Dacumos, Nathan Bermudes, Warlee Ellama, Joel Gruy, and Jun Santos were the other players who joined the one-day tournament.
Meanwhile, Ellama, who is also the SEDA league secretary, reminded team captains to start submitting their signup sheet and rosters if they are going to join the upcoming season.
