The Basketball Association of the Northern Mariana Islands will be hosting a fundraising basketball tournament next month for the teams it will be sending to the 2014 Micronesian Games in Pohnpei in July.

The fundraiser will run from June 5 to 8 and is open to the first eight teams (men’s) and four (women’s) that will register and complete the requirements, including the $200 (men’s) and $100 (women’s) entrance fees.

“The tournament will feature a double-elimination format for men’s and a round robin format for the women’s division. Confirmed to participate in the tournament are the men’s and women’s team of the Anderson Bombers and possibly a squad from the Phillipines. The tournament will charge a spectator fee of $1 and there will be raffle drawings, 3-point contest, half court shot for spectators, and lots of other giveaways. The future of CNMI basketball seeks your assistance and support so that we may have the greatest opportunity to represent the CNMI with pride,” BANMI said in a press statement.

Games will be played at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium and representatives of interested teams are requested to attend a meeting tomorrow at 6pm at the conference room of the Ada Gym.
