Bank of Saipan evens Majors division record

Ezra Ada and Jake Aguon alternated on the mound to lead Bank of Saipan to a 15-7 win over the Twins in last Saturday’s game in the Majors division of the 2018 Saipan Little League Baseball at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.

The win was the third in six games for Bank of Saipan and its even record put them in a tie with McDonald’s for fifth to sixth place in the nine-team field. The loss was the seventh straight for the Twins.

Ada tossed 3 2/3 innings in start and was tagged with four earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts, and six walks. Aguon pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief with no earned runs on two hits and he also posted two strikeouts and two walks.

Aguon went 2-for-4 at bat with a double and two runs, while Jesse Stole had three RBIs on a 2-for-3 batting. Stole had an RBI double in the Bank of Saipan’s six-run second inning, while Jesus Tyquienco, 2-for-2, touched home plate four times and had a triple.

Comets 10, Cubs 7
Patty Mendiola fanned seven and scored two runs to help the Comets get past the Cubs in the other Majors division game also last Saturday.

Mendiola tossed a one-hitter in 3 1/2 innings in relief with a walk and seven strikeouts. She also went 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI double, as the Comets scored seven runs in the fifth.

Sam Aidan started for the Comets and lasted 2 1/2 innings, surrendering three earned runs on four hits, retiring three, and walking three more.

Luis Litulumar went 2-for-3 and scored twice in the game for the Comets, while Fernando Sanchez had an RBI triple in the seventh.
