Angeles, who defeated Ador Dimaano and Robert Talavera in last month’s competition, took the February title after showing up in the final day of the tournament last Sunday and collecting 805 pinfalls. He knocked down 200-plus pins in three games (206, 234, and 219) and added 146 in Game 3 for an average of 201.25 and 44-pinfall win over Day 1 leader and eventual runner-up Raul Dumapit.

Dumapit joined the Saturday roll-off and finished strong with his 194 and 223 in Games 3 and 4 to lead Dimaano, 761-742. Dumapit’s scores in the first two games were 173 and 171, while Dimaano tallied 210, 190, 180, and 162. Dimaano went on to slide to fourth place as he came back for the second day of the tournament, but mustered only 755 pinfalls (235, 175, 177, and 168), five pinfalls short of surpassing Talavera’s 759 (182, 165, 203, and 209). Bowlers are allowed to compete in both days of the monthly tournament, but only the higher score is counted.

Completing the Top 10 were Ramir De Leon (741), Lito Teodoro (716), Percy Omechelang (705), Ariel Dumapit (697), Jaw Yong Kim (673), and reigning King of the Lanes Simon Manacop (666).

Other participants in the February roll-offs were Raphael Zapanta (661), Yong Woon Lee (659), Ronald Batac (650), Randy Abreu (643), Jorge Soledad (639), Lito Teodoro (639), Tony Verdaguer (631), Bernard Paraiso (611), Roger Vales (609), Tito Corpuz (588), and Tony Yarobwemal (504).

Diana takes Queen tiara
In the Queen of the Lanes, Diana Camacho defeated her daughter Carrie for the February title, 714-656.

Both mother and daughter played in last Sunday’s competition with Diana gaining some cushion after two games as she tallied 190 and 201 pinfalls before closing out with 159 and 164 for an average of 178.50.

Carrie registered 159, 166, 177, and 154 in four games to average 164 and beat Kathy Mersai for the runner-up honors. Mersai logged 653 (163, 134, 184, and 172) last Sunday to round up the Top 3. Gloria Omechelang and Elena Soll recorded 628 and 617 pinfalls, respectively, to complete the Top 5.

Gigi Zapanta, the Day 1 leader after posting 606 pinfalls (175, 148, 148, and 135) last Saturday, dropped to a tie for sixth place with Linda Yarobwemal, who matched the former’s output last Sunday.

Yho Villavicencio (597), Lala Taitano (561), Marie Candado (543), Anna Kim (538), and January winner Diane Chong (526) were the other participants in the weekend competition.
