Religion classes in school

According to this article in Friday’s edition of the Saipan Tribune, a proposal was made to allow religion class credits to count as elective classes in order for the transferee to meet the graduation requirements. I personally know a few kids that have been affected by “PSS policy 2510” and Galvin Guerrero makes a good point in saying that it’s not the students’ fault they had to transfer; it’s the bad economy that forced them to make the move. The biggest issue here (I hope I’m not the only one that noticed) is the clear-cut separation of church and state. The test that Galvin offered was a pretty good idea (though I’m not sure how that would work). Galvin is thinking of creative ways to allow those students to meet graduation requirements without getting the board into legal trouble and these ideas should be reviewed. I think the board should cut the crap and really put the “students first.”
