Rota students finish anti-drug training
Students from Eskuelan San Francisco de Borja recently graduated from the Pacific Regional Training Institute’s Drug Abuse Resistance Education program.
Top student awards were given to Van Cing, Baltazar Mendiola, and Pauline Taisacan. The Leadership Award was presented to Van Cing and Pauline Taisacan for their role as presidents of the school’s drug and violence prevention program.
These recent graduates will be heading to Guam for a drug and violence prevention workshop sponsored by the Pacific Regional Training Institute.
DARE provides or reinforces information and skills that enable students to resist peer pressure and other influences to be safe and free from drugs and violence.
Other emphasis is directed toward helping students develop skills and qualities needed to achieve good character and citizenship.
This is the fourth year the PRTI, headed by SFC Edward Maratita Jr., has offered the program to ESFDB students. Maratita is assisted by ESFDB class adviser Mary Rose Lucero. They join other public and private schools in Guam, the Philippines Japan, Hawaii, and Los Angeles in participating in various drug-free, anti-violence, and peace program activities.[B][I] (PR) [/I][/B]
