Pitcher Jeremy Lizama gave Athletics’ batters a nightmare and his no-hitter powered Ol’Aces to an 19-0 win in the Major League division of the 2009 Saipan Little League Baseball last Saturday at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.

Lizama pitched in no relief in five innings, striking out 13 and walking two. Lizama retired the A’s first three batters in the first inning. The A’s had the same dilemma in the third and fourth innings, dropping the team’s chances for a playoff spot. The A’s finished the regular season with a 5-8 record for the No. 9 spot. Only the top eight squad will advance to the playoffs.

Ol’Aces ended their regular season campaign with an 11-2 mark and are in a three-way tie for first place with the Hustlers and Red Sox.

After taking a 10-0 lead in four innings, Ol’Aces saved the best for last, posting a nine-run top of the fifth. Shortstop Jessie Brel anchored the spree with his two-run homer.
Red Sox 9, Survivors 2

The Bank of Saipan Red Sox gained a share of the lead following their 9-2 triumph over the Survivors.

The loss dropped the Survivors to a 6-7 slate, but they still made it to the playoffs, occupying the No. 8 spot, pending Sunday’s games results.

Keene Deleon Guerrero allowed only one hit, had one hit by pitch, and walked one in the first five innings of the game. His steady performance on the mound neutralized Survivors, who made it to the scoreboard only at the bottom of the sixth inning.

On offense, the Red Sox had two earned runs and one unearned in the second inning, added one in the third, and made two more in the fifth before closing out with a four-run top of the sixth.
Braves 25, Twins 1

In the second game of the day, the Braves clobbered the Twins, 25-1.

Braves runners crossed the plate one after another, while the Twins defense or the lack of it watched haplessly.

Ian Rogolifoi blasted a three-run homer at the top of the first inning to spark the Braves’ good start. The Braves scored seven runs in the first, made eight in the second, slowed down in the third with one, and then recovered with nine runs in the fourth.

The only time the Twins scored was in the second inning with Alex Litulimar reaching home plate on Braves’error.
