Man arrested for alleged sexual abuse of a minor at Tank Beach
Superior Court Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona imposed yesterday a $12,000 cash bail on a 21-year-old man who allegedly had sex with a teenaged girl at Tank Beach.
The court previously set a $50,000 cash bail for Manuel Sotto Cabrera Jr.’s temporary liberty but Manglona reduced this to $12,000 cash.
Manglona set the preliminary hearing for May 21 at 9am.
Cabrera was taken to court after police arrested him Wednesday afternoon on charges of sexual abuse of a minor in the second and third degrees.
Detective Vincent S. Mareham stated in his report that last April 21 the Department of Public Safety received a report about a sexual abuse of a minor case.
Mareham said that during an interview with a police officer at the Commonwealth Health Center’s emergency room, the victim, a 14-year-old girl, stated that Cabrera picked her up from her house and they proceeded to Tank Beach.
The girl said she and Cabrera ended up having sex at the beach.
Mareham said when police interviewed Cabrera at DPS last May 1, the defendant admitted he kissed the girl and touched her breast.
