All set for Ronelsie Cup tonight
The island’s top cue artists will play in a once in a blue moon tournament dubbed as Ronelsie Cup at Round Two Bar and Grill tonight.
Certified pool sharks like Roger “The Ghost” Espiritu, Jerry Soriano, and Rolly Villanueva will be among the participants of tonight’s poolfest, which gathers for the first time in one roof and brings weekly champions of Top Pool Bar’s regular Thursday 8-Ball Tournament.
Aside from Espiritu, Soriano, and Villanueva, also vying for the Ronelsie Cup are Chester Hamoy, Eric Santos, Senen Pangilinan, Nolan Cultura, Eric Caisip, Primo Ferrera, Boyet Sequioco, Juancho Mendoza, Patrick Taitano, Taylor Watanabe, Jomer Enriquez, and Victor Hocog.
Named after tournament sponsors Ronnie and Elsie Ringor, the special tournament will be a race-to-three and race-to-five affair that will use a single elimination format. It has an entry fee of $20. It starts promptly at 8:30pm.
The winner of the unofficial battle of pool champions will receive a trophy and a cash prize. The runner-up will also take home money and a medal.
If successful, the Ronelsie Cup will become a familiar event at the Garapan sports bar and watering hole with organizers holding the event every quarter.
Round Two Bar and Grill’s regular 8-Ball tournament is held every Thursday with a $10 entry fee. Games start at 9pm. For more information about the competitions, contact Ricky Vertudez at 234-6930.
