The Fielders were in complete uniform and armed with better hitters and pitchers in their lopsided 10-0 win over Kagman Lion King in the title game in the Senior division of the 2009 Saipan Little League Baseball Saturday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.

Playing in their white and green uniform, the Fielders had an easy ride to the championship, going 15-for-29 at the plate for a batting average of .517, as Lion King could not find the right man or even the woman at the mound.

Lion King, who won in the semis via forfeiture over pennant champion Jets on a controversial uniform rules violation, had Dominic Chargualaf as a starter.

Chargualaf allowed four hits, gave up three runs, and walked three in 2.3 inning pitch before Rita Taitano relieved him midway at the top of the third inning. After giving up a double on Fielders’ Tom Agulto, Taitano was quickly replaced by Chargualaf.

Fielders batters continued to have a good time against the lefty pitcher, as Chargualaf allowed six more hits and four more runs.

At the top of the fifth inning, Lion King used another pitcher, but after a hit by pitch and giving up a double, the team came out with its fifth pitcher for the game—Brandon Indalacio. Indalacio had a no-hitter and walked one, but two more runs were scored against him.

Fielders had lesser or no problems at all on the mound, as it had a luxury of using five different pitchers, who all did a great job shutting out Lion King.

Peter Tenorio pitched in the first inning, walking one and allowing one hit by pitch. Tom Agulto relieved him at the bottom of the second with the former striking out two batters and walking one.

Nathan Guerrero pitched in the third inning and Lion King was done after only three batters. Lion King made its lone hit in the game at the bottom of the fourth with Nokki Saralu at the mound, giving up a single on A.J. Hocog. But Saralu, who struck out the first two batters before Hocog’s hit, tallied his third strikeout of the game, throwing out Taitano.

The Fielders recorded their sixth strikeout in the game at the bottom of the fifth with Juan Maratita striking out second batter Shirley Taitano. Jack Muna led off for Lion King at the bottom of the fifth and was beaten to first, and the Fielders sealed the championship after third batter Shota Castro was beaten to third base.

Peter Tenorio went 3-for-3 at bat for the Fielders, scoring two runs, one double, and one RBI. Maratita and Kevin Villagomez both hit 3-for-4 and the latter posted three RBIs. Eldred Sanchez, Agulto, and Maratita had one RBI apiece.
