Saipan forges visa-related pact with Chinese HR firm
In his continuing effort to attract more tourism activities between Saipan and China, Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela recently forged a visa-related assistance agreement with the Guangdong Renfeng Human Resources Development Co. Ltd.
A letter of intent was signed between the two parties last April 19 in Guangzou, China during a visit by Tudela to the world’s most populous nation.
The LOI said that in order to promote friendship between the Chinese and Saipan people and to develop economic cooperation, both parties agreed to provide visa-related service to Chinese citizens who would like to visit Saipan according to the principle of mutual trust and benefit.
However details of the agreement will be further discussed by the concerned offices of both parties.
Russia and China were not included in the visa waiver program that will be implemented when CNMI immigration is federalized in Nov. 28.
From Guangzou province, Tudela visited Yunnan Province where Saipan and the City of Chuxiong have signed an agreement to establish a friendly city relationship that would also deal with tourism and other economic activities.
Signed on April 25 by Chuxiong City mayor Yuan Peng and Tudela, the LOI promised to promote bilateral exchanges between the two locales.
The cooperation agreement will include industry, agriculture, trade, science and technology, arts, education, medicine, tourism, and “others which both sides from time to time shall determine beneficial and appropriate.”
Accordingly, these objectives can be most effectively achieved through a friendly-city relation agreement between the two parties.
In line with this, the governments of both Saipan and Chunxiong have adopted resolutions through the principles of the Joint Communique on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the United States and the People’s Republic of China.
Tudela said some 30 Chinese would be visiting Saipan this summer through his personal invitations.
Tudela said that while meeting many Chinese government officials and private individuals during his China trip, he was able to promote Saipan as a prime tourist destination.
