Churches join Tudela for a National Day of Prayer
Various churches on Saipan joined Mayor Juan B. Tudela yesterday in observing the National Day of Prayer, with the signing of a proclamation designating May 7 for the occasion.
This day marked the 58th Annual National Day of Prayer across the United States and its territories.
Those who witnessed the signing were Pastors Jose F. Enteria of Grace Christian Assembly, Noel G. Puno of the CIM-Filipino Community Church, Raffy L. Armia of Jesus is Lord Church, Danny A. Ibanez of Upper Room International Ministry, and Paul C. Medina of Saipan Christian Church.
The proclamation states that religious freedom guaranteed by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the diversity of faith practiced in American land have made it a beacon for people who seek freedom to worship according to their conscience.
In recognizing this special occasion, Tudela encouraged all residents to pray and put their hopes in the Lord.
“Just as we rely on prayer for courage, hope, and renewal in our private lives, so too do we turn to prayer in times of joy, crisis, economic uncertainty and tragedy in our public life as a nation, a city and an island, Tudela said.
It was the second time the Office of the Mayor of Saipan was asked by the Alliance of Defense Fund to bring residents of Saipan together for a day of prayer.
ADF is a non-profit legal alliance of over 1,200 attorneys with the aim of defending the right of people to freely live out their faith.
“I call upon the people of Saipan to set aside a few moments of their time today to talk to the Lord in a special way, to ask him for mercy, to help us in this difficult time of our lives today,” Tudela said.
