The Inaugural Shirley’s Coffee Shop Invitational Basketball League will kick off on May 17 at the JP Center basketball court in Garapan.

This was decided during a meeting of team representatives at the family themed restaurant’s Chalan Kanoa branch last Friday.

Organizer Boy Lincaso said they had to postpone by one week the tip-off for the basketball league so they wouldn’t run conflict with the start of the UFO Basketball League, which tentatively will start on March 10.

The one-week delay will also give participating teams time to practice and secure their uniforms and muses for the May 17 opening parade and start date.

Lincaso said seven teams have confirmed their participation in the cagefest, namely Micronesian Brokers, Inc., G4S Security, Coca-Cola Micronesia, Advance Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Pacific Trading, Co., Tan Holding Corp., and host Shirley’s Coffee Shop.

Games will be held Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday with the curtain raiser set at 7pm followed by the 8:30pm nightcap.

Incidentally, Lincaso has set another organizational meeting at 6pm tonight, May 4, at the Shirley’s Coffee Shop in Chalan Kanoa. Refreshments will be served and all teams must send representatives.
