MP United went perfect in U13 games in the 2009 NMIFA Spring Youth Football League last Saturday.

MP United 1 blanked Tan Holdings FC, 2-0, on one goal apiece from Dakota Hall (43rd minute) and Aifferson Atan (46th minute)

In the other boys’ U13 match, MP United 2 also had a shutout win over Independents FC 1, 3-0. Angelo Jones tallied two goals for MP United 2, while Jake Lee made one.

MP United 3 was to play IFC 2 in the third game, but IFC is now down to only one team in the boys’ U13 division. MP United 3 was then allowed to challenge a collection of league players in a scrimmage with MP strikers prevailing, 2-0.

In other results in the boys’ U13, Paire FC and Matansa went neck-and-neck in the entire game and had to settle for a 0-0 draw.

Paire coordinator Becca Newman said there were a lot of attempts for a goal, but Paire keeper Lucas Nutting and his counterpart at Matansa held their ground to end the game in a tie.

In the girls’ U13, IFC 2 and Matansa had a 1-1 draw with Nancy Oscar scoring for the former in the 22nd minute and Doreen Ravell making a goal for the latter in the 35th minute.

In the boys’ U18 division, Paire outclassed Matansa, 1-0. Andres Halaby scored the lone goal of the game in the 19th minute.

MP United 1 and IFC 1 dueled in the other boys’ U18 game and both teams scored one goal for a draw. Dae Min Jeon nailed the lone goal for MP United 1.

The girls’ U18 game between MPU and Paire also ended in a draw, as neither team scored.

“There were a lot of good plays and several opportunities to score, but Paire’s Stephanie Camacho and MPU goalkeepers and both teams defenders hung in there for a 0-0 draw,” Newman said.

The spring youth league also holds games in four other age groups, namely U4, U6, U8, and U10. The U4, U6, U8, and U10 age groups have co-ed teams, while U13 and U18 have separate competition for boys and girls. Around 500 kids are playing in the youth league,

The league will continue its regular season game for another month before concluding the competition with a youth football festival in May.
