Matutino Adony won the Fil-Taga Golf Association’s April Ace of the Month Tournament last Sunday in a day the big guns faltered with their shot-making skills at the Kingfisher Golf Links.

Adony triumphed with a net score of 64, two shots ahead of Mando Guban’s net 66.

Guban finished with the day’s third lowest gross of 83 but the 17-handicapper settled for second place behind Adony, whose 22 handicap lifted him to the top after coming home with a gross 86 in the par-72 18-hole tournament.

Matutino is best remembered for winning the October Ace of the month as a new comer in 2007 by virtue of a club high 93 handicap.

He fired a net score of 61 at the same course in Talofofo.

Fr. Manny Corcuera submitted the lowest gross of 81 though the 12-handicapper was good only for third place with his net score of 69.

Also netting a 69 were fourth place John Matsumoto, a 21-handicapper who carded a gross of 90, and fifth place Jason Gadula, who came in with a gross 100.

Rene Batallones, who had the second lowest gross of 82, finished sixth with a net 70, same as seventh place Jhun Calma, who had a gross 86.

Ted Malaran was eighth with a gross of 92 for a net 71 and Dionysus Geva came in ninth with a gross 98 for a net 72.

Nono Bostre, who has the highest handicap of 32 among the 18 players in the field, tied for the day’s highest gross of 104 for a net 72 in 10th place.

Rey Ferraz settled for 11th place with his gross 92 for a net 73.

Jess Yumul also came up with a net 73 at 12th place by finishing the day with a gross 95.

Fred Cataluna, the player with the lowest handicap of 10, managed a gross 85 for a net 75 at 13th position.

Gil Faller also came up with a net 75 for 14th spot after his gross of 90.

Three-time Fil-Taga Golfer of the Year Mike Cruz faltered this time with a gross 95 and the 20-handicapper stood at 15th place with a net 75.

Another big gun losing his touch was Nestor Siruelo, who had a gross 92 for a net 76 for 16th place.

Richard Meimban also shot the day’s biggest gross of 104 and the 28-handicapper settled for 17th place with a net 76.

Jhun Ortiz, who won the 2009 February Ace tourney, also lost his form and finished last at 18th place with a net 78 following the 16-handicapper’s gross 94.
