Pioneer businesswomen to be honored at ’09 Businesswoman of the Year Gala

[B]TAMUNING, Guam[/B]—The fourth annual Businesswoman of the Year Maga’haga award program, sponsored by First Hawaiian Bank and Guam Business, recognizes businesswomen who have made a difference in the community and have greatly contributed to their chosen field.

This year, for the first time, First Hawaiian Bank and Guam Business will be presenting Lifetime Achievement Awards to honor businesswomen who are pioneers in their fields, who work tirelessly in the community to improve the quality of life on the island and who serve as role models for the businesswomen of today.

Three awards will be presented at the gala to Lagrimas “Ama” Flores Aflague, owner, Aflague’s Dance and Entertainers Studio as well as former music director, Guam Visitors Bureau; Concepcion “Connie” Slotnick, president and chairwoman of the board, Slotnick Enterprises Inc. and Dolores R. Tuncap, president and owner of Flowers by Tand.

The Maga’haga Award will be presented at the Businesswoman of the Year gala on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency Guam, in conjunction with the release of the Guam Business May/June issue, featuring a commissioned photo study of the recipient on its cover. Proceeds from the gala will fund scholarships at the University of Guam, Guam Community College and Northern Marianas College.
