A crash involving five vehicles occurred along 16 Highway Chalan Monsignor Road below the As Terlaje Hill Tuesday morning.

Fortunately, no one was reported injured. Traffic investigators determined that alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Eric F. David said yesterday the crash involved a white Toyota Tercel, a white Toyota Corolla, a brown Cadillac, a red Nissan truck, and a beige Lexus.

David said the male driver of the white Toyota Corolla was found at fault for causing the accident.

David said the driver of the Toyota Corolla was cited for violating the traffic law that states that in no event shall any motor vehicle be operated at a speed greater than will allow it to be stopped within the assured clear distance ahead.

DPS received a call about a multiple car collision below As Terlaje Hill on Tuesday at 8:01am. Police officers and medics responded to the scene.

The police’s preliminary investigation showed that the driver of the white Toyota Tercel had stopped on the inner lane, signaling to enter the driveway leading to her home.

The white Toyota Corolla, which was traveling westbound on the same lane, failed to stop and collided with the Toyota Tercel.

As bystanders and the driver of the white Toyota Tercel tried to push the Tercel to the westbound inner lane, an incoming brown Cadillac collided with the Tercel.

In trying to maneuver the Cadillac away from a head-on collision with the Tercel, the Cadillac swerved to the outer lane where a Nissan truck was traveling west. The Cadillac hit the Nissan truck. The truck had moderate damage to the rear left mud flap, while the Cadillac sustained extensive damage to the front left and right portions.

During the Cadillac-Nissan collision, flying debris from the Cadillac and the Toyota Tercel struck the beige Lexus, which was passing by. The Lexus had moderate damage to the left rear door and front right portion.
