“We decided to operate these scheduled charter flights between Narita and Saipan and Kansai and Guam during the summer travel peak in response to requests from our travel partners,” said Charles Duncan, managing director of Asia/Pacific for Continental Airlines. “We are excited to provide our customers in Japan with more convenient access to Saipan and Guam this summer, when demand is strongest. In spite of the challenging economic environment, Continental has been growing in the Asia Pacific region. On March 26 we launched a new route linking Shanghai and New York and we doubled our service between Guam and Cairns, Australia for the 2009 summer season. And we will continue to look for more opportunities that are commercially viable.”
