Clarification

In the article “Ex-governor Lang to run for a House seat,” published on April 4, 2009, I was misquoted. I don’t remember commenting about Governor Fitial, as there was no reason for me to do that. I am not running for governor so I have no business saying anything about any gubernatorial candidate. However, I distinctly remember saying that although I am a registered member of the National Republican Party, I am not a member of the local Republican Party.

The two main issues in this election year are the economy and the island power crisis. I just got back from a trip to Pohnpei where I learned that the electric rate was $0.315 per kilowatt. Obviously, something is awfully amiss with our island power system when a much smaller island has a cheaper rate than we do. And obviously, the House members from election district 1 have not done anything about it.

I am confident that I can take care of this crisis if elected; and if I didn’t, be assured that I won’t be running for re-election.
