A bald spot on Marpi

I visit the Commonwealth frequently, especially Saipan. I enjoy the beauty of both the scenery and people of the island while still having modern conveniences close by. On my first trip to Saipan, like all tourists, I had the chance to see some of the most spectacular scenery. Suicide Cliff was one of them. I remember seeing thick halom tano’ (jungle) and the beautiful ocean from the cliff’s edge. The last thing I would ever want to see is a bald spot in the jungle where bulldozers and workers are clearing one of the few remaining untouched spots on island. I wholeheartedly agree with Ruth Tighe’s recent letter to the editor. I don’t understand why this administration would go forth with such a ridiculous idea. I’m sure there are other feasible areas on island where this homestead project can take place. As a “tourist” and lover of the CNMI, I urge the government to stop this project and keep this beautiful piece of land untouched for all to enjoy.
