Prostitution sting in Garapan nets 6 female suspects
A joint operation conducted by local and federal law enforcement agencies resulted in the Thursday arrest of six women allegedly involved in prostitution in western Garapan.
The six suspects—Aiqin He, Bilin Zhang Cabrera, Nirong Zhang, Aiping Cao, Qingqun Li, and Yuan Zhen Zhang Ludwick—were brought to the Superior Court yesterday afternoon for a bail hearing.
Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo imposed a $200 cash bail plus $800 unsecured bond for the temporary release of each defendant. Govendo set the preliminary hearing for April 8 at 9am and the arraignment for April 13 at 9am.
Urbano Babauta, an investigator at the Office of the Attorney General’s Investigative Unit, stated in his report that the sting operation was conducted in the evening of March 27, 2009.
Babauta said in the operation was assisted by the U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the U.S. Navy Reserve Guam, and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
Four agents from the federal agencies, who acted as undercover agents, entered the Yankey’s Bar located on Plumeria Street in western Garapan.
The six defendants were allegedly among the women who approached the agents in the bar and offered sex for a fee.
