Huwa, Voyagers keep lead in 8-ball tilt

D’Pirates Huwa edged BwiBwi’s Shark Attack, 4-3, last Tuesday night at home to keep the lead in the Obyan Division of the Saipan Billiards Association’s Budweiser Open 8-Ball League.

Jess Pangelinan pocketed the 8-ball on his break to cap a 2-0 win against Bernard Kileleman in the first singles match-up.

Huwa took four of the five singles matches to improve the team’s record to 28 wins and 14 losses.

Shark Attack prevailed in the two doubles pairings to create a tie for second place with the Monte Carlo Perfect Spotters with similar 23-19 cards.

The Perfect Spotters also posted a close road game victory, 4-3, over host USSP Watever by winning three of the five singles and the last match in the two doubles’ matches.

Bradley Demapan nailed the night’s other eight-on-the-break shot in his 2-0 triumph against Bill Kaipat.

Watever is currently in third place with 21 victories and 21 defeats.

BwiBwi’s Da Snipers ambushed USSP Fotten Palau, 5-2, and climbed to sixth place with 20-22.

Still Fotten Palau has a better record in fifth place with 21-21.

D’Pirates 8-Ballers also won on the road against host VFW Warriors, 5-2, to improve its record to 19-23 in seventh place.

The 8-Ballers won all their singles matches and dropped their two doubles assignments.

The Warriors fell to a 13-29 record in the bottom of the standings.

In the Agingan Division, the Voyagers, who were on a bye, kept their lead with a 25-10 card, counting their win over Wild Wild West in their last game on Nov. 24.

Running second are the Docomo Hustlers (22-13).

The Hustlers won their last doubles match-up on the way to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Utopia Mix Acers.

Billy Bones Home Boys won over 8 Ball Knights, 5-2, to stay in third spot with 20-15 mark, while sister team Billy Bones Bad Boys lost to Wild Wild West, 4-3.

Mix Acers is running fourth with a 17-18 card, Wild Wild West is fifth (15-20), followed by Snicker 8 Ball Knights (15-20) and Bad Boys (12-30).
