Tinian’s beaches and the waters surrounding Managaha Island have been declared safe for swimming after regularly scheduled sampling showed no excessive concentrations of fecal indicator bacteria.

According to the Division of Environmental Quality, none of samples collected from these two locations exceed the CNMI Marine Water Quality Standards. Therefore, DEQ assigns all of the sampled beach sites a green flag.

DEQ analyzed samples of marine recreational and storm drainage water from 10 locations on Tinian and 11 samples from the shore surrounding Managaha this week. Marine Water Reports are also provided at www.deq.gov.mp/section.aspx?secID=4 and http://www.cnmicoralreef.net/wq/beachcloseweeklyresults.htm.
