DCCA sweeps pennant as playoff cast complete
Department of Community and Cultural Affairs swept the regular season with a victory over Pacific Islands Club by forfeiture last Friday night to take the pennant of the 2009 Budweiser Inter-Government Slow-pitch Softball League at the Capital Hill Ballpark.
DCCA won all of its 19 games this year to solidify its hold of the No. 1 spot for the playoffs, which will start in the next few days.
The results of last Monday’s games completed the 10-team field cast for the playoff round.
That left the 10 remaining games of the regular season merely to determine the final placing for the playoffs.
Joining the DCCA into the next round are the Beach Boys (15-3), Freedom Air (15-3), Docomo (15-4), No Zone (14-5), Joeten Motor Jets (13-6), CPA (13-5), Legislature (11-8), POI (9-8), and P&S (9-10).

No Zone 13, CUC 2[/B]
No Zone closed out its regular season assignment with an overpowering 13-2 win over Commonwealth Utilities Corp.
Jerry Ayuyu went to bat three times and hit all of them including a two-run homerun and six RBIs.
Prior to that, Ayuyu was No. 4 with most homeruns this year with 14. He moved to third with 17.
But more importantly, No Zone is currently in fifth place with 14 wins and five losses.

Freedom Air 8, Joeten Motors 2[/B]
Roy Celis hit two homeruns in his first two of three tries at bat to lead Freedom Air to an 8-2 victory over the Joeten Motor Jets also on Monday night.
That win created a two-way tie in second place with the Beach Boys and Freedom Air with their identical 13-5 records.
Celis is now on top of the list with most homeruns with his 19 total. DCCA’s Joey Dela Cruz slipped to second place with 18.
[B]P&S 8, Hopwood 7[/B]P&S took the last slot for the playoffs as it rallied back in the seventh and final inning to score a 8-7 win against Hopwood.
With Hopwood in front, 7-6, after the top of the seventh inning, P&S first baseman Joe Quitugua drove home shortstop Jess Mesa with a single to tie the score at 7-7 with no out in the bottom seventh.
The next P&S batter Ton Reyes singled to send Quitugua to third base then Dimas Omar made the winning hit that sent Quitugua home for the final run.
