NMI woos visitors from neighboring Guam
The Marianas Visitors Authority continues to market to Guam residents to encourage travel from the neighboring island to Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
Last weekend MVA participated in the Guam Wedding Expo at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom, sharing information about wedding and honeymoon packages with approximate 2,000 attendees. An ad in the 30,000 issue Bridal Magazine complemented the promotion.
“Although the Northern Marianas Islands and Guam are both beach destinations, Saipan, Tinian and Rota offers an expanded choice of hotel accommodations, beautiful wedding chapels, and many unique island attractions found only here,” said MVA managing director Perry Tenorio. “…and long after the wedding, we continue to offer couples romantic rest and relaxation only a short flight away.”
This month MVA anticipates a marked gain in travelers from its island neighbor with last Friday’s arrival of the USS Frank Cable, a submarine tender based in Guam. Making one of its regular cruises to Saipan, this year the ship carried 1,213 crewmembers and 400 family members.
The NMI received 19,793 visitors from Guam last year. Increased efforts to bring more travelers from Guam are planned. (MVA)
