Four games in the playoff round in the 2008-2009 BANMI/Budweiser Basketball League will be played at the Garapan Basketball Court.

League commissioner Gabriel White said some playoff games are moved from the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium to the Garapan court at the request of event sponsor Budweiser, which will be holding fun activities for fans in three playoff dates.

Playoffs will begin tonight with two games to be played at the Ada gym. The next two games will still be played at the Susupe facility before players go to the Garapan court for two matches on April 3. The next game in Garapan is set for April 10, which will be the playoff match for the last finals ticket. Game 1 of the championship match on April 13 is also scheduled at the Garapan court. Game 2, if necessary, will go back to the Ada gym and will be played on April 15.

All seven teams advanced to the double-elimination playoffs with pennant champion CNMI Nationals getting a bye in the first round.

The Nationals finished the double round-robin regular season with a 9-3 slate.

Diamond Auto Shop, which started its campaign in the annual caging with a 0-3 mark, had a 7-5 record, making an uphill climb for second place.

Ol’Aces and IT&E also finished with 7-5 slates, but lost to the Auto Fixers in the tiebreak. Ol’Aces dropped to third, while IT&E slipped to fourth place.

Quichocho Law Office and Docomo were also tied with identical 5-7 records, but the former prevailed in the tiebreak and occupied the No. 5 spot. In seventh place were the Runnin’ Rebels.

Tonight’s game will have the No. 4 seed IT&E colliding with Quichocho Office in Game 1 at 6:30pm. In Game 2 at 8pm , Diamond Auto Care will battle the Runnin’ Rebels.

On Wednesday, Game 3 will have Ol’Aces squaring off with Docomo at 6:30pm. The CNMI Nationals will play in their first playoff game against the winner of Game 1 at 8pm.

The remaining schedule will depend on the results of the first four playoff matches.
