SANTA RITA, Guam—Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Marianas Self-Help Seabees were honored with “Excellent Eagle” awards for their contributions to the academic excellence of students at Harry S. Truman Elementary School in Santa Rita, during an awards ceremony last March 27.

NAVFAC Marianas Seabees have been helping students improve upon their academic confidence as part of the “Howdy Partners” program.

“It is NAVFAC’s goal to make meaningful contributions in our community,” said Cmdr. Matt Suess, NAVFAC Marianas executive officer. “Our Seabees are committed to the students and to enhancing their lives through these one-to-one academic mentoring sessions.”

Through the Navy’s Adopt-A-School program, NAVFAC Marianas and H.S. Truman Elementary School share a long and valuable partnership.

“The Seabees are role models for our children,” said Michael Meno, school principal.

NAVFAC Marianas’ mission is to strengthen combat readiness through military construction, installation management, and facility operations support. (PR)
